MIke Romasco 2011 Mudslinger

I began mountain biking not long after we moved to McMinnville, Oregon in 1993. I met Evan at the local bike shop where he sold me a Cannondale and invited me on a Tuesday evening group ride. While I had toured by bicycle for many years already, mountain biking presented a whole new level of freedom and challenge. Before long, I tried my first race and gradually accomplished better and better results. Eventually, I even won OBRA titles for both MTB and “Cross. As I crossed the half-century mark, my ambition has changed to helping others discover the joy of cycling and spend time trail building. I still race, but my focus has more recently been on a “bucket list” of places and events to ride rather than results. Our spring training camp in Arizona this year included riding in Prescott, Sedona and Flagstaff which was spectacular! Recently we have ridden up the side of Mt St Helens and Mary’s Peak together. Some of my best rides are still those dark, cold, wet, wintery “debacles” that while incredibly horrible, have become such great memories of good times with my friends!
