2014 has been too FAST!!!

NW MTB Series

First of all, my apologies for not posting here this season. As they say “too many irons in the fire”! In some ways, I feel like my “iron” has been in the fire too long! Anyway, what’s been going on? Well, we opened a bike shop in Wenatchee last winter www.ridgecyclesport.com. The kids are growing up and seem to consume more and more time. After taking two months off last winter to “recover” my general health condition is good but my performance continues to be compromised and this season it is worse than ever. The good news is that I have some different Drs. taking a look and despite dealing with this for five years, I still have some hope that the puzzle can be solved!

Now that we are in Washington, I have changed gears and tried my best to support the local race promotions with my attendance. I raced the Fat Tire Revolution Series and finished 2nd overall. I also raced the second round of the NW Epic Series at Chelan Echo Valley 60 where I finished 3rd place. Last but not least, I participated in the first two rounds of the NW MTB Series where I also managed to squeak onto the podium and win the overall.

So far, the race season to day hasn’t been “bad” by any account but it has been compromised so noticeably by my body’s inability to push above aerobic pace or recover from any hard effort that it seems pretty disappointing. The last thing I want to do is diminish the performance of my competition so it has been fun to cheer on old and new friends alike even if it’s while they leave me in their dust!
